United Plugins has just launched BassRift, the ultimate all-in-one bass-sculpting tool. Don’t miss out on the introductory promo price of €15, a massive 81% discount, available only until June 8th.
I always like it when I see a comprehensive plugin that addresses every aspect of your track. Plugin makers face a challenging task in this sense, but when there is a good one like the BassRift, your workflow becomes much quicker and easier.
Designed mainly for electronic bass tracks, the plugin offers speed, power, and maximum simplicity. As the company says, it is an “all-in-one solution for crafting spine-tingling electronic basslines that dominate the mix.”
The plugin works by separating the low and high frequencies of your bass. This way, you can create tight low-ends while adding effect to the high-ends for a unique tone. It also adds the final polish at the final stage when it combines both frequencies together.
When I first saw the user interface, it was a bit overwhelming and hard to understand, as there are three modules and many controls. But after a bit of reading and experimenting, I quickly got used to the plugin and found everything to be simplistic and effective.
There are three modules, including Flow, Space, and Heat, along with Split, Routing, and Merge sections on the bottom. Plus, there is the Safe Bass component, which features a compressor, enhancer, and mono consolidation for impactful presence.
The main three modules are for high-end frequency effects: Flow offers modulation, Space offers time-based effects like delay and reverb, and Heat is for saturation. All sections have four different algorithms to add to your sound. I really enjoyed this, as it truly gives versatility to make your bass lines shine.
The Split section gives you the flexibility to split your signal as you like. The Routing section organizes your signal chain and decides which modules and sections will be active. Finally, Merge gives you the final polish with a three-band EQ, filters, and output level controls.
I tested the plugin with bass synths as well as bass guitar tracks. While I think it works much better with electronic sounds, it does come in handy and offers some good features for bass guitars, too. I found out that it can create good atmospheric bass lines with the Flow and Space modules. Especially, the Wobble effect was one of my favorites.
I really enjoyed how comprehensive the plugin is. It also has many more tricks in its pocket, such as automatic gain compensation, clipping, waveform selector, and more. But I would have liked to see compression for the high frequencies, as the compression is only for the low-end.
The plugin is normally priced at €79, but there is an 81% discount until June 8th. So, you can purchase it for €15 for this limited time. If you are still unsure, there is also a 15-day trial period for you to try and see if you want it or not.
BassRift comes in VST, AAX, and AU formats for Mac and Windows users.
