FREE PLUGIN: Reflex Acoustics Releases Reflex Spectrum Analyzer

Reflex-Spectrum-Analyzer

Reflex Acoustics has just released a freebie audio analysis plugin called Reflex Spectrum Analyzer, which specializes in low-end detail.

I really like monitoring plugins as these analyzers can help you a lot, especially if you are a beginner or working in a genre that you are not used to. That’s why I enjoyed the Reflex Spectrum Analyzer with its unique features like stereo comparison, display tilt and smoothing, and its high ability to show detailed bass information.

In my opinion, the last feature is the one that stands out. The plugin does a great job showing responsive and granular bass information.

Without delving too deep into the technicalities, Reflex Spectrum Analyzer uses a unique method to provide accurate bass information. It features four 512-element FFT analyses in a multiband configuration with distinct sample rates, optimizing the distribution of the 1,024 frequency bins across the audible range.

In the end, you have the frequency amplitude spectrum on a semitone log scale with 11 octaves from 10 kHz to 20 kHz. In total, we have 132 frequency bands. It has a 90 dB range and adjustable smoothing across frequency and time. Furthermore, it also comes with Left-Right and Mid-Side stereo modes, adjustable spectrum tilt, and a short-term LUFS display. Plus, it supports 44.1 kHz to 384 kHz.

The user interface is really straightforward, which I always find positive. It has a huge display with Stereo mode, Tilt, Time, and Frequency Smoothing controls on the bottom. The size of the UI is also adjustable in the upper right corner, with small, medium, and large choices.

When I tested the plugin, I liked how responsive it was and how it could accurately filter the selected frequencies on the display. It is quite easy to use, and the controls are pretty sensitive, which are all positive aspects. I think it is a great plugin for analyzing bass info, especially considering that it is free.

Another feature I enjoyed was the ability to click or drag over the spectrum display to emphasize or filter specific frequencies on the display.

Also, the plugin’s ability to be used as the second signal through the sidechain may be handy for some users.

The developer also said the AAX format will be available in the near future.

Reflex Spectrum Analyzer comes in VST3 format for PC and VST3 and AU formats for Mac.
