Top 20 Native Instruments Plugins & Kontakt Libraries 2022

Top 20 Native Instruments Plugins & Kontakt Libraries | integraudio.com

Native Instruments has already familiarized us to plugins for all tastes thanks to a great deal of user confidence. For you, we’ve chosen the Top 20 Native Instruments Plugins For Musicians 2022.

We have become accustomed to a variety of options that allow us to create music in a more organic and efficient manner. In any case, Native Instruments has gotten us used to plugins that may fulfill a variety of purposes.

Sample libraries are collections of pre-recorded audio samples that include keyboard mappings. You may hear the actual recordings being played back in real-time when you play the instrument with a MIDI controller. This frequently consumes a lot of RAM, so you should be cautious about how many sample libraries you load at once to protect your computer’s memory.

An acoustic instrument’s tone and playing technique might need many terabytes of sound. Contrarily, synthesizers produce sound from code. Therefore there is little to no pre-recorded sound.

Here are the Native Instruments plugins that will be available in 2022:

Plugins

1. Guitar Rig 6 Pro (Amps, Cabs, Effects)

More Info & Price (Trial Available)

Guitar Rig 6 Pro - Top 20 Native Instruments Plugins & Kontakt Libraries | integraudio.com

Guitar Rig 6 Pro has a slew of new features, effects, and amplifiers, as well as a far more user-friendly interface.

A renowned workstation for processing is called Guitar Rig Pro. The Native Instruments Guitar Rig gradually established itself as a standard for software-based multi-effects processing, much like many of its hardware predecessors from decades before.

The plugin’s primary function is to emulate vintage amp, pedal, and cabinet tones effectively. But it also became a component of a wider arsenal for giving music personality and tone.

Key Features:

  • Additional Tools
You may split the audio stream, for instance, and route various effects or amplifiers to either the lower or higher frequencies using the “Crossover” tool. Therefore, you may add a phaser or other effect pedal to the higher frequencies before adding reverb to the lower frequencies. This feature gives you a clear phaser effect and a gentle reverb with lots of space in the mix.
  • Modifiers
You have a few other modifiers that may be utilized in addition to the routing tools mentioned above to offer intriguing control over effects and tones. These modifications could appear strange if you’ve never used anything like this before. For example, synth plugins frequently use sequencers, LFOs, and envelopes, whereas guitar plugins do not.
This helps to explain why non-guitarists have historically found Guitar Rig 5 to be so appealing. It would help if you experimented with these modifiers to take your guitar tones in new directions.
  • Artist Presets
Yvette Young, Vernon Reid, Pete Thorn, Zola Jesus, and Eric Krasno are a few accomplished musicians, bassists, producers, and composers who have contributed presets to GUITAR RIG 6 PRO. Many more will be included in later releases.

Compatibility:

This plugin is available for macOS 10.10 or higher (64-bit only) and Windows 7 or higher (64-bit only). It runs in standalone mode and VST2, AAX, and AU plugin formats.

Summary:

Overall, you get a ton of versatility and equipment that can be used with the voice signal, a synth, bass, and guitar without even touching amplifiers for the price of the program, which is approximately the same as a high-quality boutique pedal.

The amp may then be used with additional amp plugins using Ownhammer and 3 Sigma Audio IR that are included in the package or with your cab IR. So this most recent release has a lot to get enthusiastic about!

2. Massive X (Synth)

More Info & Price (Trial Available)

Massive X - Top 20 Native Instruments Plugins & Kontakt Libraries | integraudio.com

Native Instruments’ much anticipated close to one of the best-selling soft synthesizers of all time is called Massive X.

Massive is one of the most well-known and well-liked soft synths from the preceding 10 years. It is quite flexible, but its capacity to produce enormous growling and throbbing noises is frequently linked to dubstep and its offshoots.

Massive is still around, keeping old tunes compatible and giving NI a tasty synth with Komplete hardware and software at a mid-level. NI has entirely rethought the architecture and user interface, which is positive.

Key Features:

  • Oscillators
Wavetable oscillators with banks of pre-programmed wavetables continue to be the major source of sounds in Massive X. Although there are a few remastered versions of some of the first set’s hits, the wavetables themselves are all brand-new. More than before, wave tables may be bent and altered.
The original included a formant processor, several bend modifications, and a spectrum filter. To thoroughly bend the sound at the oscillator level, you now have ten modifiers with several submodes and individual settings.
  • Inserts
Inserts are one of the sections that receive the most remarkable and helpful improvements. You may add up to three more modules here, and each can be routed separately using the routing map.
Numerous effects and signal processors are available, including modernized versions of classics from the first Massive like Frequency Shifter and Bit Crusher. The input signal modulates a Phase Mod oscillator in addition to a straightforward Sine, Saw, Pulse oscillator.
  • Effects
Main effects are provided in three extra effect slots and can be altered differently. Some of them, like Reverb and Dimension Expander, have names similar to effects from the original Massive but of far higher quality. In addition, the Nonlinear Lab effect suite includes drive and amp sim effects and Quad Chorus, two recent highlights.
  • Modulation
A more beneficial redesign has been made to the capacity to scale one modulation assignment with another. The scaling/sidechain source on each control is now positioned in the middle of the three mod input slots.
The dials give a way to set the scaling value when the slot is occupied, and they are located adjacent to the other direct modulators. Sidechain modulation in the older version of Massive was all or nothing. The first version of Massive contains four envelopes and four multi-mode modulators with LFO, Performer, and Stepper mode switches.

Compatibility:

This plugin is available for macOS 10.10 or higher (64-bit only) and Windows 7 or higher (64-bit only). It runs in standalone mode and VST2, AAX, and AU plugin formats.

Summary:

There are plenty of classic wavetable synths available if you’re seeking one that does the wavetable thing beautifully but not too. On the other hand, the Massive X is something to consider if you’re looking for something distinctive, something very different from anything else that is currently available, something that incorporates wavetable synthesis but for which wavetable capability isn’t its only claim to fame.

3. Reaktor 6 (Versatile Synth)

More Info & Price (Trial Available)

Reaktor 6 - Top 20 Native Instruments Plugins & Kontakt Libraries | integraudio.com

The potential of the series as a workable method for making your own instruments and effects is ultimately realized in Reaktor version 6.

Reaktor used to be a staple of the Native Instruments product line, but it has fallen out of favor recently, serving as a framework for other synthesizers like the Razor and Monark. It has always been a potent synth toybox, but it is frequently disregarded because of its intricacy in contrast to the rapid pleasure of other Komplete instruments.

Version 4 went beyond what was possible with Core by adding a deeper layer of elements and functions for assembling algorithmic structures. Although it wasn’t the modular Lego synthesizer that the rest of us had in mind, it did provide DSP programmers with the means to produce some spectacular instruments.

Key Features:

  • Interface
Reaktor 6 has an instant cleaner, sharper, and more appealing appearance. The flat contemporary designs of Maschine and Komplete Kontrol have replaced the previous generation interface shared with Kontakt.
There are no longer any unnecessary frames around panels, managing views is simpler, fonts are crisper, and structure cables are now somewhat anti-aliased and curve around the edges of objects, making it much simpler to trace connections in addition to improving the visual appeal.
  • Blocks
However, Reaktor 6 includes a significant new feature that sets it apart from previous versions. The notion of Blocks undoubtedly came to you immediately if you’ve seen any marketing images or videos. Finally, we’ve all been waiting for the virtual modular rack. The selection of pre-made objects housed in their folder beside the main library is the greatest place to start while learning about Blocks.
  • Bundles
Bundles are a novel connection that simulates multicore cables by packing numerous signals onto a single wire. Point-to-point connections between seats in any building tier are possible with covered buses. Base cells are lastly no longer categorized as audio events or processes.

Compatibility:

This plugin is available for macOS 10.10 or higher (64-bit only) and Windows 7 or higher (64-bit only). It runs in standalone mode and VST2, AAX, and AU plugin formats.

Summary:

It’s wonderful to see Reaktor reborn with a strong new release. Although it has long had some of the best synthesizers available, and I can’t get enough of the vintage sequenced synths and generators, there were moments when I thought I’d never be able to fully utilize it unless I took a year off to study the construction techniques.

For the more casual user, Blocks opens them with a brand-new approach to making their incredible-sounding synth compositions. That’s not to say it’s awful; you still need to have some knowledge of synth construction, but there are many examples to study.

4. Kontakt 6 (Sampler)

More Info & Price (Trial Available)

Kontakt 6 - Top 20 Native Instruments Plugins & Kontakt Libraries | integraudio.com

The most recent version of Native Instruments is Kontakt 6. It is a potent plugin that is utilized in video games, movies, and music.

After much anticipation and rumor, version 6 has officially ascended to the Kontakt throne. Although Native Instruments refers to it as Kontakt 6, VST calls itself Kontakt in the plug-in list without a version number.

It’s unclear whether this implies that future upgrades would be free incremental updates alone or that there will eventually be paid milestones. Maybe this is the final comprehensive makeover of Kontakt as we know it.

Key Features:

  • Module
The wavetable module, a brand-new element of the sample playback engine, increases Kontakt’s capacity to produce odd and exotic synthetic sounds. Since NI oddly chooses not to include any ready-made wavetables in the box.
Although for sure someone somewhere would like the strangled, unmusical sounds it produced, the consequences weren’t beautiful. However, you may download a collection of free wavetables thanks to the ease with which they can be located online.
  • Effects
All the effects in Kontakt have always been a combination of excellent and mediocrity. Therefore, it’s fantastic to see some newbies who fit the good description.
The original, functional, but a dull little delay has a chic new pal. In terms of functionality, it falls between Replica and Replica XT, with five delay algorithms to choose from Modern, Analog, Tape, Vintage, and Diffusion, each with distinct characteristics supported by modulation, saturation, bit reduction, and band flutter depending on the type of delay.
  • Beat Machine
Although transient detection may not perform well with unsliced samples at fast rates, Beat Machine is equivalent to the Time Machine Pro feature in that it allows you to adjust a sample’s tune while keeping the fidelity of the source.
  • Tone Machine
You may alter a sample’s pitch in Tone Machine mode without changing the playback speed. However, this mode is especially grainy. So I don’t advocate Tone Machine for usage with anything that has sharp transients unless you want to radically modify the sound of a drum loop by stretching the bright lights out of it, which is sort of crucial.

Compatibility:

This plugin is available for macOS 10.10 or higher (64-bit only) and Windows 7 or higher (64-bit only). It runs in standalone mode and VST2, AAX, and AU plugin formats.

Summary:

So, hardly any major improvements in functionality or design that some would have imagined. It is up to the individual whether this makes the expense of the upgrading worthwhile at this time. However, I’ll conclude with this notion.

5. Battery 4 (Drum Machine)

More Info & Price (Trial Available)

Battery 4 - Top 20 Native Instruments Plugins & Kontakt Libraries | integraudio.com

A fundamentally intuitive approach and an upgraded library are combined in BATTERY 4 to preserve the emphasis on innovation. BATTERY 4 ushers drum sampling into the future with a simple, captivating interface.

Although there have been some good adjustments since then, there haven’t been many noteworthy enough to demand the publication of a new edition. The drum was created and  Native Instruments didn’t deal with packages but specialized software apps, each of which handled a different function.

Key Features:

  • Cell
    In Battery 4
, cell playback is, therefore, new. This makes it possible to copy a processed cell to a disk quickly. If you enjoy creating bespoke libraries, this might be incredibly fun for you, and Battery has sound sculpting capabilities to produce fresh and intriguing sounds.
What you should watch out for when rendering cells is this. The cellular playback options are located under Preferences. Here, you may choose the rendering sample rate and format. Sadly, it is impossible to set a custom route, which would be useful. You may find the Note Length option in the MIDI settings section. One entire note is the maximum setting.
  • Articulations
The new version is accustomed to articulations, but they are still cool. They can reduce some of the labor involved in MIDI programming. You can build up a distinct Articulation for each Cell if I copy this Cell and paste it to several other Cells.
Nevertheless, it imitates basic drum techniques, including ruffs, drags, flams, rolls, and some additional effects-based material.
  • Round Robins
By shooting the same sample repeatedly in quick succession, Round Robins reduce the machine gun effect. In Battery 4, which well-known Kontakt drum libraries inspired, you’ll discover some excellent snares. The majority will use up to three Round Robin samples for the speed layer with the highest weight. You can put three of these samples into three separate cells.
  • Effects
With the Saturation, Transient Designing effects, and a full set of settings for the Compressor. In addition, the busses subgroup. The effects tab contains all of the reverb and delay modes, as well as compression and transient designing effects.

Compatibility:

Summary:

For any current user, the workflow and browser changes make the update worthwhile, and the improved effects are the cherry on top that elevates Battery to the top tier of drum sculpting programs. In my opinion, closer Maschine integration is the only thing still lacking.

It would be convenient for someone who utilizes both to control and sequence the drums using Maschine natively. Perhaps it will happen later. Meanwhile, Battery 4’s fresh features strengthen its already strong basis, making this an easy recommendation.

6. Replica XT (Delay)

More Info & Price (Trial Available)

Replica XT - Top 20 Native Instruments Plugins & Kontakt Libraries | integraudio.com

Along with an intriguing selection of spatializing, pitched, and offbeat effects, Replika XT offers a combination of standard, panning, and modulated delays.

Replika is a simple delay plugin with one feedback delay, phase modulation effects, filter effects, and three sound-shaping methods.

The majority of the changes they made to the plugin concern effects like delay, pitch shifter, many-mode flanger, and many more. These provide you the chance to customize your sound much more precisely based on your tastes.

Key Features:

  • Five Delay Modes
Clean, exact, and controlled repetitions are offered by modern.
Vintage Digital provides warm, crisp repetitions using early samples and digital delays as inspiration. Analog is capable of simulating the murky, analog brigade pedal sound. Finally, the tape gives both cassette tape’s strong, mellow sound and the natural quality of renowned tape echo systems.
Diffusion is a unique phenomenon that creates whirling, echoing motions unattainable in physical space.
  • Pattern Controls
Replika XT makes it simple to produce complex beats, enhance your mix, or explore various sound design options. Create rhythmic repeats that naturally shift with the music by swiftly manipulating the pattern parameters. Uncompromising control at a glance.
  • Modulation
To create timeless mixing techniques and add glitter, dimension, and movement to your music, combine delay modes with creative effects. Seven-time and pitch-based effects are included in Replika XT to enhance your repetitions. Or shorten the wait and utilize them independently.

Compatibility:

This plugin is available for macOS 10.10 or higher (64-bit only) and Windows 7 or higher (64-bit only). It runs in standalone mode and VST2, AAX, and AU plugin formats.

Summary:

In the field of production, it is called a Delay spread. It is practical and simple to use. Replika XT has a simple interface designed to make it simple and quick to create even complicated effects. Producers may use pattern settings to make rhythmic repeats that naturally vary in time with the music.

One may create bespoke stereo images using dry signal and each delay line’s own panning. The ducking feature gives a drum mix more room while maintaining the tightness of the percussion impacts.

7. Raum (Reverb)

More Info & Price (Trial Available)

Raum - Top 20 Native Instruments Plugins & Kontakt Libraries | integraudio.com

With its ability to quickly create everything from abstract echoes to the ambiance that bends spacetime, RAUM was designed to sculpt any place.

Introduce yourself to RAUM, your all-purpose creative reverb. Designed to shape any area, RAUM can quickly create anything from abstract echoes to the ambiance that bends space and time. It serves as your utility tool, mix fixer, and space lab. Simple, adaptable, and, most significantly, it sounds fantastic.

Realistic cameras, experimental reflections, and sound design for space travel are all covered by RAUM’s three modes. It has you covered whether you want to extract high-fidelity textures from a single sample or add dimension to your pads.

Key Features:

  • Grounded
You may use this room-style reverb in small and big spaces, and it produces a lot of reflections in front of you and a long reverb tail. It’s ideal for giving percussion sounds weight and shine, but with a little experimenting, it can truly push sounds to their boundaries.
  • Airy
An early reflection reverb in the form of a hall that would naturally elevate voices, balance synthesizers, and amplify pianos. With the flick of a knob, the modulation control adds more movement to the reverb, changing sounds from lush to bizarre.
  • Cosmic
Your acoustic lab in microgravity. You can use a modulation knob for even crazier soundscapes, then work with the pre-delay section to produce everything from intricate resonances to gritty textures and metallic sounds. Reverb is reimagined in cosmic.
  • Feedback Knob
Using this knob, you can truly give your reverb a tone that changes depending on the pre-delay you select. If you select a short pre-delay, you will hear a very high-pitched tone with a fairly sharp edge that sounds glassy. It will sound strangely robotic if you select a larger pre-delay. Overall, it produces unique settings that Raum can only produce.
  • Pre Delay and Modulation
With a wide range of usages, the pre-delay part of RAUM is brimming with possibilities. For metallic, comb-filtered sounds, increase feedback with a little delay and sync it for echo or loop effects. Additionally, modulation gives RAUM’s reverb tails a dislocated, exploded sensation, or go all out in Cosmic mode for unsettling ambient soundscapes and distinctive gritty textures.

Compatibility:

This plugin is available for macOS 10.10 or higher (64-bit only) and Windows 7 or higher (64-bit only). It runs in standalone mode and VST2, AAX, and AU plugin formats.

Summary:

It’s always a delight to utilize it in your creations. It has three separate settings, making it adaptable as well. If you can apply pre-delay feedback softly, it’s a pretty intriguing concept that can produce some really fascinating tones.

8. Absynth 5 (Semi-Modular Synth)

More Info & Price (Trial Available)

Absynth 5 - Top 20 Native Instruments Plugins & Kontakt Libraries | integraudio.com

Absynth’s fifth iteration aspires to be far more user-friendly than its forerunners by adding even more sound-manipulating tools.

The powerful software synthesizer Native Instruments Absynth 5 is famous for its original sound creation capabilities and distinctive, developing sounds and textures. Its cutting-edge sound-moving capabilities inspire intricate and distinctive sound design and provide the answer for musicians requiring something unusual.

Absynth has a vast collection of various sounds, ranging from classical piano presets to intricate and changing ambient sounds and an excellent selection of effects. Numerous original sound creation techniques, including subtractive synthesis, FM, wavetables, granular sampling, and others, are included in Absynth. Additionally, it has a special flexible envelope control that enables subtle or drastic sound modification.

Key Features:

  • User Interface
Native Instruments Absynth’s user interface is comparable to other products made by the same firm. However, the synthesizer’s futuristic and alien visual design creates a unique experience by establishing the synthesizer’s mood and tone.
As a result, the interface’s sole drawback is that it might be challenging to find what you’re searching for in some places. In addition, given the plugin’s high level of sophistication, NI had to jam many intricate sound design capabilities into a single plugin.
  • Mutator
The new Mutator will make you grin if you’ve always wanted to create new Absynth sounds but have never known where to begin. Choose an existing preset as your starting point, then pick a few of the Browser database tags introduced in Absynth 4 as your next step.
Instrument, Source, Timbre, Articulation, and Genre are a few of them. Your search is honed to a list of presets whose parameters will serve as the targets for your mutations as you add more tags.
  • Aetherizer
Absynth’s fundamental functionality has always included granular synthesis, but the new Aetherizer granular delay effect goes considerably farther. Every grain is placed randomly in the stereo field and can be moved before being fed back into the effect input.
Most parameters also include a random control to provide more erratic effects. For instance, increasing the unpredictability of the pitch-shifting produces everything from a soft chorus to an insect swarm.
  • Samples
You may explore and load your Absynth sounds in the Browser window and arrange them into programs. In the Browser window, you may play with the 1800+ available sound presets in Absynth. Absynth’s presets are broken down into five categories: Instrument, Source, Timbre, Articulation, and Genre—to make it easier to discover a certain sound.

Compatibility:

This plugin is available for macOS 10.10 or higher (64-bit only) and Windows 7 or higher (64-bit only). It runs in standalone mode and VST2, AAX, and AU plugin formats.

Summary:

Our only genuine complaint about this upgrade is the usability problem. Even though version 5 added some fantastic new features (the Aetherizer features and filter feedback alone will be worth the €69 upgrade price for the majority of users), the effort to make the synth more user-friendly was misdirected in the development of the Mutator tool.

It would have been better spent on redesigning the interface, in our opinion. Overall, Absynth 5 is still a beautiful synth; you must have it if you’re a professional sound producer.

Symphony Series - String Ensemble - Top 20 Native Instruments Plugins & Kontakt Libraries | integraudio.com

A 60-piece string orchestra is at your disposal with NI’s new Symphony Series instrument, which was developed in partnership with the creators of LA Scoring Strings.

The outstanding Brass Collection set the bar high for the second release in Native Instruments’ Symphonic Series of Orchestral Instruments, the String Ensemble.

The new Symphony Series instrument from NI has a 60-piece string ensemble and was developed in partnership with the creators of LA Scoring Strings.

Key Features:

  • Articulations
For each segment, there are up to 10 articulations. The eight key switch positions are pre-assigned articulations in the presets.  The major feature is legato sustains, with the mode wheel controlling dynamic crossover layers.
Each layer gradually contains more vibrato, providing a broad spectrum of emotion, especially on the violins, from gentle, silvery serenity to the fulfilling intensity of El Cid. The Legato Vib Ctrl articulation has a vibrato amount knob that can be set to any MIDI CC if you want to regulate the vibrato amount manually. A portamento speed knob is included on each articulation.
  • Setup Tab
Section sizes may be chosen using the Configuration tab. There are times when you like the more personal sound of fewer players. Alternately, you can like to independently manage each player’s actions and group dynamics in the first and second portions.
Again, the violins offer the greatest alternatives, with the most players available, according to the Section Setups box, which shows the options available for each section.
  • Mixer
The mixer provides the stereo pre-mix, near, mid, and distant microphones, as well as panel control, volume, and on/off status. Here you can find parametric EQ, compression, and convolution reverb.
The reverb comprises 104 pulses, including four cinematography ambiances, most of which were developed especially for the SE by Audiobro. As long as they are in the same Kontakt instance, a helpful feature called Transfer Settings makes it simple to duplicate Mixer settings across all sections.
  • Auto Divisi
Each instrument’s A and B division portions were recorded separately. The well-regarded auto divisi engine intelligently divides the grades among different portions by grading norms. This enables the creation and arrangement of precise and lifelike performances for all articulations in a snap.

Compatibility:

The full version of Kontakt 5.8.1 or higher is neededIt runs on macOS 10.9 or higher (64-bit only) and Windows 7 or higher (64-bit only).

Summary:

The SE produces a luxurious sound, which cannot be disputed. It may be just as delicate and sensitive, but it also has a loud, strident character appropriate for dramatic orchestral work.

The incorporation of both legato and portamento transitions, as well as Auto Divisi, is very well thought out and well appreciated. Additionally, the option to limit the number of performers broadens the SE’s applicability beyond the traditional Hollywood method.

  • User Interface
The interface provides three options for changing articulations: MIDI note, velocity range, or MIDI CC messages. With the Arpeggio system, it’s simple to save settings as snapshots for quick retrieval in another project and to create dynamic runs, arpeggios, and trills immediately.
In addition, the KOMPLETE KONTROL S-Series keyboard’s seamless integration puts key parameters at your fingertips right away, inspiring you to let your imagination run free.
  • Arpeggio Module
The Arpeggio module allows you to rapidly create arpeggiated phrases, sustained notes, trills, and chords in addition to the recorded arpeggios that are already present. Arpeggios can only be scales and patterns, and anything may be played in real-time.
  • Release System
The Expression Release method produces a natural decline of the sound whenever you release a key. This is still effective if the articulation being played demonstrates recorded dynamic variations, such as those in crescendos or swells.
  • Tightness
The “tightness” slider, which is designed to fix the issue, starts to make everything sound extremely artificial and unnatural. In addition, this collection oddly contains an ensemble of saxophones when the other instruments stated would be better suited to an orchestral environment. It also lacks an English horn or a bass clarinet.
  • Shapes
With the help of the Smooth Dynamics, Attack, Release, Tightness, and Motion controls in this library, you can create my performance easily. With automated repeat control, I quickly built single, double, and triple assaults for staccatos and sustains, phrases, and phrases with dynamic emphasis. The sound was still great.

Compatibility:

The full version of Kontakt 6.8.1 or higher is neededIt runs on macOS 10.9 or higher (64-bit only) and Windows 7 or higher (64-bit only).

Summary:

This collection sadly does not meet the quality expectations for contemporary orchestral sample libraries.

The samples themselves were of extremely low quality, sounded over-processed, and never truly convincing, despite their very reasonable pricing and abundance of information.

In addition, the fact that the samples contain so much ambient ambiance and reverb is another issue that detracts from this collection.

13. Symphony Series – Percussion

More Info & Price

Symphony Series - Percussion - Top 20 Native Instruments Plugins & Kontakt Libraries | integraudio.com

Percussion is offered in both a comprehensive SYMPHONY SERIES version and a condensed SYMPHONY ESSENTIALS version. A comprehensive collection of 55 orchestral percussion instruments, recorded at Budapest’s Studio 22.

Aimed particularly toward media composers wanting a higher degree of realism from NI’s orchestral sample offering, the Symphony Series Brass collection unites two orchestral libraries of Solo and Ensemble Brass groups. It was created in collaboration with Soundiron.

The Ensemble library, in contrast to the Solo library, records a 32-piece brass ensemble made up of the same four instrument groups as the Solo collection: trumpets, trombones, horns, and bass brass. There are more than 100 articulations in total in this collection, and you can quickly search for the performance styles you like, thanks to the shared file structure across the two libraries.

Key Features:

  • Sound
The sound quality is excellent overall, and some of my favorite parts are the kits that contain various instruments from each category and are mapped to the midi keyboard, as well as the strong kicks and rolls of the drums, the strong snares, the CC1 controllable cymbal swells, and the powerful kicks and rolls of the drums, regarding the different hammered instruments, present such as celeste, vibraphone, xylophone, glockenspiel.
  • Resonance Simulation
For unmatched realism, PERCUSSION employs a special sampling and playback mechanism. The Drum Head Resonance Simulation (DHRS) does the intelligent switching between fixed drum hits and resonant drum recordings. This makes it possible for round-robin setups that faithfully reproduce the sound of the drums being played while adjusting for performance and style.
  • Instruments
This varied collection of percussion instruments includes symphonic staples like timpani, snares, and concert toms, as well as tuned percussion instruments like the celesta, marimba, and vibraphone, as well as fun hand percussion instruments like the agogo, jawbone, cymbals, temples, and many more. You may perform each instrument separately or as part of one of seven deftly put-together sets.
  • Solo And Ensemble
The Ensemble library, in contrast to the Solo library, records a 32-piece brass ensemble made up of the same four instrument groups as the Solo collection: trumpets, trombones, horns, and bass brass.
There are more than 100 articulations in total in this collection, and you can quickly search for the performance styles you like, thanks to the shared file structure across the two libraries.
  • Effects
Alternate mic and panel volume sliders, as well as various internal effects, are all available on the mixer page. The EQ, Reverb, and Compression & Filter functions are on the left.
Click the button next to them to turn them on, then configure the parameters of each effect to your liking. The EQ’s low, mid, and high-frequency components are simple yet effective, and the mid band’s bandwidth is customizable.

Compatibility:

The full version of Kontakt 6.8.1 or higher is neededIt runs on macOS 10.9 or higher (64-bit only) and Windows 7 or higher (64-bit only).

Summary:

There is no denying that this symphonic percussion collection is good overall.  But I don’t believe their goal is to offer the most astounding and authentic samples. At a good price, the Symphony Series may provide a lot of content that is ideal for use in any project.

14. Symphony Series – Brass

More Info & Price

Symphony Series - Brass - Top 20 Native Instruments Plugins & Kontakt Libraries | integraudio.com

Top soloists and a 32-piece brass section were recorded in the renowned acoustics of San Francisco’s St. Paul’s Church.

The beauty of a sizable symphonic brass band in full flight is unmatched by many other sounds. Additionally, with the orchestral/cinematic sample library market becoming increasingly competitive, media experts Soundiron and Native Instruments collaborated to create the Brass Collection.

It is likely the first in a line of Symphony collections and is their homage to the powerful sound of laprosones. However, the items are only accessible for download, and because the Ensemble library is 28GB in size and the Solo collection is 18GB.

Key Features:

  • Brass
Performance controls are shared by the Ensemble and Solo library GUIs, which have a characteristic black/gray/gold appearance and feel. The display is dominated by a big Dynamics knob, with performance controls for Attack, Release, Tightness, and Motion below. In the Solo library, Vibrato takes the role of Motion performance settings.
The bottom section has two further performance controls, an articulation indicator, and a preset selection or articulation within a preset indication.
  • Articulations
Effects, Expression, Legato, Staccato, Sustain, and an all-purpose preset with the appropriate instrument’s name are included. You will find a variation of 8 articulations. These are normally associated with the key switches, although they may also be chosen via MIDI CCs or velocity.
  • Trumps
There are so many wonderful things to discover while exploring the specialized presets that we can showcase the “best portions,” beginning with the true-legato trumpet preset. An excellent test for legato transitions and they are fluent and seamless, with the tone being properly noble and booming.
Of course, no trumpet part is complete without mutes, and this collection offers three unique types: Straight, Cup, and Harmon, each of which adds the necessary edge and extreme intensity. Straight mute variations that decrescate, crescendo, sforzando, and swell are potent.
  • Mixer
Both libraries captured the close, mid, and far microphones. Additionally, a stereo pre-mix that is friendly to RAM is included for each of the three and is loaded by default in the factory settings.
Level and pan adjustments are available for each mic channel, and finishing touches include a three-band EQ, convolution reverb, compressor, and filter. Reverb has 100 great patches available

Compatibility:

The full version of Kontakt 6.8.1 or higher is neededIt runs on macOS 10.9 or higher (64-bit only) and Windows 7 or higher (64-bit only).

Summary:

While there is no doubt that the Ensemble library is the star of this specific show, the Solo library and its superb material should not be overlooked.

The solo instruments may have benefited from the dynamic crossover, but even without it, they offer lots of material for intriguing and intricate brass compositions, and when combined with the Ensemble, they constitute a strong set.

There are occasionally notes that are a little odd or tone-wise inconsistent with the others, but I haven’t yet seen a perfect library in that regard.

15. Piano Colors

More Info & Price

Piano Colors - Top 20 Native Instruments Plugins & Kontakt Libraries | integraudio.com

The most recent project created by Native Instruments and sample company Galaxy Instruments is called Piano Colors.

Piano Colors is the result of the most recent partnership between Native Instruments and Galaxy Instruments, a sample creator. But, then, in extremely strange and creative ways, these samples are processed, arpeggiated, and manipulated to produce sounds that he typically associated more with synthesizers than an acoustic instrument. So this certainly isn’t the collection for you if you’re seeking for typically sampled piano.

Key Features:

  • Layers
The ability to layer or cross between a variety of instrument sources is provided by Layers I and II. A wide variety of controls allow for the individual adjustment of sounds. These include resonance, pitch shift, color, and pan. Real-time controls, like the mode wheel or any other CC of your choosing, may once again be allocated a variety of characteristics.
  • Particles
Perhaps the most intriguing of the lot is the Particles option. Particles may be compared with a multi-layer Arpeggiator. In contrast to the standard Arpeggiator, Particles may switch between a variety of note values.
You may use this engine to provide delicate rhythmic activity over layers of fundamental instruments and the Arpeggiator, which is an awesome tool.
  • Noise
The level and sound characteristics of numerous noise kinds, including Pedal (resounding thuds), Mechanical, Felt Attack, Mic noise, and even the Pianist, may be fine-tuned via the Noises menu. I thought this was a great innovation, and I hope more libraries will do the same in the future.
  • Articulations
Various unconventional tools and materials, such as hammers, drums, rubber, screws, and multiple EBows, were used to record the large collection of source sounds in PIANO COLORS. The sound produced by preparing and playing a grand piano’s strings and body in extremely uncommon ways has been painstakingly recorded using the best recording gear, resulting in an astounding array of vivid resonances, vocal harmonics, and vibrant tones.

Compatibility:

The full version of Kontakt 6.8.1 or higher is neededIt runs on macOS 10.9 or higher (64-bit only) and Windows 7 or higher (64-bit only).

Summary:

Piano Colors provides a true gold mine of incredibly helpful presets with many customization choices because of its robust sound capabilities, a vast selection of presets, and thorough editing facilities.

One thing to keep in mind is that some of the more complicated settings are fairly CPU intensive, necessitating the freezing of tracks in DAW in some circumstances to prevent CPU spikes. It is unclear whether this can or will be solved in the future with more effective scripting.

16. Mysteria

More Info & Price

Mysteria - Top 20 Native Instruments Plugins & Kontakt Libraries | integraudio.com

The best feature of Native Instruments’ Mysteria is how it combines a fantastic sample collection with a hybrid user interface.

Uli Baronowsky, one of Mysteria’s key developers, describes the creepy voice soundscapes as beautiful to dark, mournful to aggressive, dreamy to frantic, personal to enormous, or sacred to nightmarish when an XY pad switches between virtual instrument moods.

Native Instruments made the distinctive sampler instrument associated with Galaxy Instruments, Baronowsky, and four other group choruses. For Mysteria, voice and body sound like whispering and floor tapping was captured in addition to the choir vocals. The resultant textures can have an energizing and stunning sound.

Key Features:

  • Samples
Over 800 sound sources, including a big symphonic choir with separate male and female parts, a chamber choir, and a private New Music vocal quartet, were recorded in Bratislava and Cologne for the 29 GB sound library. The result is an incredibly adaptable sound that can use for anything from intimate whispers to powerful choruses and anything in between.
  • X-Y Pad
The X-Y pad in MYSTERIA, similar to THRILL from 2017, is crucial to the game’s effectiveness. By navigating groups of distinctive dynamic samples and modular effects, players may switch between many sound layers while concurrently controlling their intensity. Because of this, MYSTERIA works equally well for long-lasting thrills as it does for sudden spikes in adrenaline.
  • Blending
With the outstanding MYSTERIA instruments and the combination of 4 sound sources, you may rapidly create eerie tones that can be played. When you need to adjust the tone to match the mood of the scenario, Mysteria provides you the choice to mix a sound that is based on just four distinct moods or variations. You may play a tone with another random music library, but it won’t alter.

Compatibility:

The full version of Kontakt 6.8.1 or higher is neededIt runs on macOS 10.9 or higher (64-bit only) and Windows 7 or higher (64-bit only).

Summary:

The library contains a large range of sounds that are suitable for usage in any project. The collection is extremely simple to use, and the sounds are simple to locate. The library’s overall quality is exceptional, making it a wonderful addition to any filmmaker’s toolset.

Pharlight - Top 20 Native Instruments Plugins & Kontakt Libraries | integraudio.com

With this one-of-a-kind tool from Germany’s brightest minds, you may manipulate vocals in a variety of phar-out ways.

Its unique sample library is the lifeblood of Pharlight. It claims to maximize the instrument’s granular and sampling engine, developed by 15 artists and sound designers. Additionally, there is a modulation/effects area.

You may choose from 319 sound sources, and 375 presets thanks to the library’s contributions from beatboxers, vocalists, and choir singers, as well as a few made-up words. Along with the dramatic soundscapes, you also receive several melodic, fast-attack sounds that may utilize for hooks and other similar purposes.

Key Features:

  • Grain
PHARLIGHT is built around a specific, user-friendly granular engine, which exploits its source samples to generate pitch- and time-independent tones, pads, pulses, and more. This feature implies that a whisper or whispered vowel can be played as a pad or keys, and the intricacies of small, brief sounds can be multiplied and enlarged to epic dimensions. In addition, transitions, sweeps, and drops may be generated directly on the beat, thanks to tempo-synced playback.
  • Sample
From wavetable-style synth sounds to pure vox and chopped, textured noise, these are employed to create multi-faceted tones with extreme adaptability. Grains are overlaid with various carefully recorded samples or ambient one-shots from PHARLIGHT’s Sample module that are nearly all voices. Consider low-end complements to textured pads, quick assaults for lead-based patches, and distinctive choir sounds.
  • Modulation
Modulation is essential to the PHARLIGHT sound, providing rapid and inventive methods to shape your sound. The X-Y pad provides real-time control over how sounds change, making it ideal for transitions, tension, and dips. Conjure up brilliant pads and colorful textures with gate and delays, organize things with drivers, fine-tune with EQs, shape with a plethora of filters, and explore unexplored sonic terrain with a chorus, flanger, and phaser from the mod pack.

Musicians and composers will like Pharlight’s rich and growing sound and its response to expressive performance inputs. In addition, sound designers will enjoy exploring Pharlight’s synth engine and powerful modulation features.

Paul Haslinger, a musician, and composer who spent several years with Tangerine Dream and has a long list of credits in the film, television, and video game industries, was engaged in the design.

Key Features:

  • Granular Engine
With the help of its unique granular engine, STRAYLIGHT presents your audio source in a robust, specialized, yet user-friendly interface. Utilize rich, organic timbres that can defy time and pitch while preserving the integrity of the original sounds and evolving musically through time. It may considerably expand small sounds in size and breadth without losing any sonic characteristics. Then, a layer from the sample module is combined with the granular engine to provide the same level of editing and modification.
  • Modulation
The modulation and effects parts of STRAYLIGHT guarantee a quick and imaginative workflow. Expressive direct-to-image performance and complete control over timing and intensity are made possible by precise X-Y control. With over 300 presets, the result is a collection of over 360 distinct sound sources suited for granular modules and samples.

19. Ashlight

More Info & Price (Trial Available)

Ashlight - Top 20 Native Instruments Plugins & Kontakt Libraries | integraudio.com

Ashlight is particularly designed for projects that demand for dark and gritty look and is targeted firmly at the cinematic aspect of music and sound creation.

The Solos, an Amsterdam-based sound design company with a lengthy history of successful cinema credits, including  Mad Max: Fury Road, Creed, Game of Thrones, and numerous more, worked with Frank Elting to create the instrument.

With rough textures, muted keys, dramatic atmospheres, and bright textures, ASHLIGHT leans more toward grainy’s darker and colder side. It comes after the vocal-based tracks STRAYLIGHT and PHARLIGHT.

Key Features:

  • Grain Module
The optimized granular engine scans specialized ASHLIGHT source material to produce alien natural tones. For example, the simplest features of a bowed carbon item may be extended into gigantic patterns, metallic layers can create a distinctive bottom timbre, or foley can be scanned for eerie accompaniments to key patches—all without sacrificing the sound integrity of the original recording. In addition, it can perform lifts and transitions on cue with tempo-synced playback.
  • Modulation
In the sample module, grainy textures are assembled in one phase. Patches with attacking or atmosphere, from restless to majestic, from chilling to calm, may be created by combining chorus, synth, noise, drums, pulses, and other elements. You may use the arpeggiator in ASHLIGHT to amplify shifting rhythmic patterns. To create more melodic patches, you may layer pianos, strings, vibraphones, ceramics, and other sounds in the sampler module.
  • Sample Module
In ASHLIGHT, performative modulation may produce waves of intensity quickly. The grain engine’s settings may be polyphonically modulated thanks to MIDI Polyphonic Expression (MPE) capability. The X-Y pad offers simple real-time control over several modulations at once. With gates and delays, you may produce stratospheric glows and subterranean pulses. With overdrive and reverb, you can push sounds to their absolute limit.

The full version of Kontakt 6.8.1 or higher is neededIt runs on macOS 10.9 or higher (64-bit only) and Windows 7 or higher (64-bit only).

Summary:

Ashlight is a great starting point if you’re at the beginning with the series. The engine is easy to use, melodic, and fun to play. In addition, Ashlight’s powerful engine can handle rapid and simple sound modification and thoroughly explore the micro world of granular synthesis.

20. Sequis

More Info & Price

Sequis - Top 20 Native Instruments Plugins & Kontakt Libraries | integraudio.com

Sequis is a veritable gold mine of rhythmic layering that may assist you in creating rhythmic bases for scoring almost without effort.

You may almost generate rhythm beds for notation using Sequis’ wealth of rhythm stacking features. Although a loop-based instrument, Sequis’ capability goes much beyond the capabilities of the built-in sequencer, thanks to the ability to be played in both loop and play modes. Sequis has a huge arsenal of tools, each separated into several articulations.

Key Features:

  • Effects
Using the “fx” button to obtain different effects depending on the sound. The effects include a filter with simultaneous Low and High-Pass modes and intensity settings, a delay that can be clicked on with Damping, Feedback, and Mix controls, and a reverb that can be balanced with Pre-Delay, Size, Damping, and Damping parameters. On the Perform page, you may choose whether your sequence will play at regular speed, time to your DAW tempo, double speed, or half speed.
  • Modwheel and Play Mode
You can quickly up the drama factor or scale your song to a basic pulsating pulse by using the mod wheel to add and remove layers from each patch. Sequis has apparent looping capabilities, but its Play mode enables you to use Sequis as a four-layer melodic instrument.
  • Edit
On the Edit page, you may edit each tool layer and design your own sequences. The order of the instrument layers is lowest to highest. For instance, the first ring on the edit page leads to the tool at the bottom. Until you reach the top tool layer connected to the fourth outer ring, each ring lights up as you add the subsequent tool layer.
  • Instruments
For each of the four levels, you can select a sound first. These are divided into two categories. Instrument and Articulation, and both columns offer a wide range of choices. With this plugin, you can find Nylon and steel guitars, a banjo, and many more.
Viola, Cello, and Bass are available for strings, and Flute, Bass Flute, and Contrabass Flute are available for wind instruments. A wide range of percussion instruments, including steel tongue drums, cajons, low and high tablas, metal and wood percussion, shakers, and hi-hats, is played after it.

Compatibility:

The full version of Kontakt 6.8.1 or higher is neededIt runs on macOS 10.9 or higher (64-bit only) and Windows 7 or higher (64-bit only).

Summary:

Sequis is an idea-generating machine that shows to be an invaluable ally in the creative process. It contains several well-integrated features, and the Pattern Sequencer provides a lot of freedom.

But I can’t think of any compilation that adheres so faithfully to authentic, recorded sounds while making them available for sequencing and arranging.

The results are amazing, and Sequis has the potential to become a helpful tool for many media composers to answer our questions.

Conclusion

The majority of music producers currently employ a variety of effects and virtual instruments in their work. In addition, most plugins have been used in video games, movies, and music. So it’s extremely likely that you’ve seen them perform at some point.

Unfortunately, because of the quality, most of the plugins in the collection I’ve shown cost more than $100 each. However, Native Instruments has also provided a bundle pack that includes practically everything you could need for music composition.

The plugins Lores, Piano Colors, Mysteria, Pharalight, Straylight, and Ashlight, are the most intriguing. They elevate creativity to a new level and are quite simple to utilize. In addition, the quality modeling amp Guitar Rig Pro 6 recently received a cool update that will add more features. Rammstein fans are undoubtedly pleased because one of the band’s guitarists used the plugin during live performances, which sounded great.

Finally, we can claim that we have some tools at our disposal. Use these if you want to take your music to a higher level. They will provide the greatest possible service for your demands, but caution must be exercised because they use up a significant amount of resources.
